About Our Company

Muthaka Farms was founded in 1995 as a tea farm on the fertile slopes of Mt. Kenya in Miandari, Embu County. From the beginning, the farm was built on hands-on farming, respect for the land, and a long-term commitment to quality agricultural production.

In its early years, Muthaka Farms focused on tea cultivation, learning the value of patience, consistency, and proper land management. These formative years shaped the farming philosophy that continues to guide the business today—growing steadily while responding to changing agricultural opportunities.

As demand grew, the farm expanded in the year 2000 with the acquisition of additional land in Kamwangi, Kiambu County. This expansion marked a major turning point, introducing kienyeji chicken rearing and avocado farming, and setting the foundation for diversification beyond tea farming.

Further growth followed with the establishment of operations in Ongata Rongai, where the farm expanded into large-scale farm produce cultivation. This location enabled closer access to Nairobi markets and allowed Muthaka Farms to strengthen its supply of fresh food products.

Muthaka Farms has since evolved into a diversified agricultural enterprise operating across multiple locations. Today, the farm is engaged in large-scale poultry farming, including kienyeji, layers, and broiler chickens, alongside goat farming and dairy production.

In addition to livestock, the farm grows a wide range of produce including capsicums, potatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, carrots, plantains, sweet potatoes, arrow roots, onions, maize, spinach, and lettuce. These products are supplied through home deliveries, supermarkets, and hotels, supporting both household and commercial demand.
